WCRN is on the move

I was listening this morning to the WCRN Morning News with Hank and Sherman. They mentioned that there would be no phone calls this morning because the station was in the process of moving their studios. They are leaving their long time home in downtown Worcester to Westboro. Hank made reference to the weekend show "It's the Liquor Talking" so I'm thinking their new studios could be in the Westboro shopping center at Route 9 and Lyman Street.

No more "from the window of the world" references that started back when Peter Blute was their morning host. Now both primary AM stations in Worcester (WCRN & WTAG) have their actual studios in the suburbs.

If it wasn't for the fact that WEEI-AM is at 850 on the dial, I would say that this sounds very familiar to the WAAF move from DT Worcester to Westboro to Boston.

This most likely explains why SRN network news has been running at times instead of the CBS News the last couple of weeks.

After 20 years, the 2nd largest 24/7 50,000 watt station north of New York City is no longer calling Worcester home.
WCRN, behind only WBZ AM 1030 in size and audience, was located at 82 Franklin Street in downtown Worcester since 1994.

Really? Second largest in audience? The other 50,000-watters would be WRKO, WEEI, WUFC and WTIC. I can see CRN's audience being bigger than UFC's, EEI's and even RKO's, but WTIC? Really?
