WCRN Thoughts

To Quote Hall & Oates:

"She's Gone
I better learn how to face it
She's Gone
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's Gone - what went wrong?"

Today Hank was on during Dianne's time and started the hour with his Hank Stolz Experience opening...
no mention of Dianne...

No wonder their website is still under construction...everything keeps changing...

Thoughts, Insider?

So has the dust settled enough at WCRN to expect the new web site to finally debut? I hear lots of promos for new weekend shows (time buys??) but still no updated website.

At least the Infomercials have disappeared from 5 to 6 a.m. Doug Setphan is back on with the daily Talk Radio Countdown show.

They should save even more money by running Doug Stephan's show all morning.
I find Peter Blute very hard to listen to. Whenever I had the opportunity to listen
to Stephan through the years, he always came across as pleasant and his guests
are usually pretty decent, too. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Doug Stephan live in
Framingham and broadcast from his home?

Stephan has a home in Framingham and he sometimes broadcasts from it. But I believe he has another home in California and sometimes broadcasts from there. He may also have a third home in England from which he sometimes broadcasts.

Peters problem is he does not shut up! He always talks over his guests always talks over his few callers and always talks over his co hosts.

Peter needs to learn to listen now and then!

I would not object to replacing peter with someone else, I think Zip would be a great host for WCRN he always does a good job when filling in for one of them.

BTW it was a cost saving measure to fire Dianne. If you tune in to WCRN and listen to their ads you will notice they are 90% trade 8% ad agency and 2% PSA/promo… How can they stay in business with only 8% paid advertising that only brings in $3-$10 a spot?

This week's Worcester Magazine has an article on WCRN's latest lineup shuffle. The article confirms that Dianne Williamson is gone and things have not gone quite like they expected when they hired Hank Stolz from WTAG. Blute & Stolz are the only local weekday hosts.

According to the article, "Essentially, the new lineup means that Blute and Stolz are the only two truly local on-air personalities for the station that boasts itself as “Live and Local,” and made a big push to be the local alternative when they brought Stolz aboard. At the time, and several times in the intervening months, Stolz reaffirmed his desire to bring as many local voices as possible to the station, as well as get out into the community as much as possible. That mission will be a little more difficult with the current lineup."

Interesting article. There was a local show on 3-6pm Saturdays that was pretty interesting, but after 5 weeks,it was bumped for football. I bet if they paid-for-play more $ than football, they'd still be on. That could have led to something fresh for the weekday lineup.

Hank was trying to get more local stuff on but it's all about the Benjamins.
