The Johnstown Tribune Democrat reported in its obituary section Scott McCloud, a former WCRO personality...and a damned good one...passed away recently at the age of 64. Scott worked at WCRO when radio was worth listening to, not circling the drain with its collection of Russ Limbaugh clones and wanna be's as it is now. WCRO was a top 40 station which featured radio greats such as Herb Ruth, John Rubal, Marty Radovanic, Jerry Allen, Mike Bucki etc.
Scott was a jock and in later years did news, especially afternoon drive. He was a teacher as well. I worked with Scott in the mid seventies. Although he could be a bit testy at times, he was a fantastic role model and great on the air. His news delivery was such that you not only took an interest in hearing the news but you also wanted to hear Scott do it!
I believe what I defined as Scott being "a bit testy" was because of the environment in which he worked. The manager at the time was nothing more than a negative, egotistical jerk who apparently felt the world revolved around him and God had better ask him for permission before He did anything. This is a great testimony to any of you managers out there. YOU have the opportunity to spread great looking attitudes or you can make for a pressure filled, tension packed environment.
I've thougt alot about Scott since I left and I am proud to say SCOTT MC CLOUD was one of the few bright spots of my time at WCRO.
Scott, if you can read this, you were a fantastic talent. I miss your professionalism tremendously!
