By the by, F.W. Robbert doesn't treat their employees very well, either! ::) They even terminated George McClintock, after bringing him here from Memphis! So even my (former) boss didn't last there! ::)
I kind of find that to be a little bit of sweet justice considering he's the one who dropped CCM and went dollar a holler on the original WMQM. ::) Isn't he involved with another dollar a holler shortwave station now?
WNQM and WWCR shortwave are jointly owned, so he was involved with both (and terminated from both) at the same time. If anything, he, too, is probably a victim here. The Westenbergers (owners of WNQM/WWCR and all those Memphis stations, as well as properties in Knoxville and New Orleans, too) now basically run the Nashville stations by "remote control" from New Orleans. Terminating George (basically forcing him into early retirement) was most likely a cost-cutting move on their part. They didn't even have the courage to terminate me face-to-face. They made their operations manager do it. ::)

I don't know about George's history with the original WMQM. I had heard that it was sold, and the money used for buying the shortwave stations. Then I had heard again that that was not the case. So what do I know? But the Westenbergers transferred him here when they started the shortwave stations in the late '80s.
