WCTG wants to move

WCTG Chincoteague wants to change city of license to Eden, Maryland (South of Salisbury. This is the second station to move to Maryland, back in the late 90's WKHI (107.5) moved to Fruitland, Maryland (south of Salisbury). I guess there's not enough business to support stations in this poor, rural area (The west Virginia or Virginia).

At least they got the coordinates right this time ;D

And no...I think there is money to be made in a small-ish town. I lived in Farmville, VA with about 7,000 people in the city, and the second most listened to station was billing $450,000/year. I'm sure the big AM/FM combo was probably making $750k+.

HOWEVER, you can make more money in a larger town (like Salisbury). I'm sure a fringe FM there with a semi-decent sales staff could pull to $750k/year. Better signals probably make over a million. Granted, this is just speculation...only time I went to the sales office at my station was to conjure up people for smoke/lunch breaks ;)
