WCTX'S NEW ON-AIR BRANDING WILL BE......

What a pity - once again they have to try and capitalize on an already well established brand in this part of Connecticut (channel "9", UPN9, and now My9).

Can't say I'm surprised, only that I had hoped WCTX would more accurately identify themself as My59.

Maybe they'll choose the same exact logo as WWOR, so that when the Yankees games are being simulcasted, viewers will think it's being totally produced by WCTX. :p

You know, those sports ads sometimes are not accurate. Look how many times WWOR changed their logo since Jan. 24. About 3 times. WCTX hasn't released any logo themselves yet. WSBK UPN38 didn't yet either, so it shouldn't be official.

This is true. Someone posted a message a month or so ago about FOX61's new logo appearing in an advertisement for one of the local minor league teams. And still their logo is the same.

We can only hope our friends at WCTX will choose My59 or MyX or MyCT. ;D

Just MHO...but this "MY 9" or "UPN-9" is dishonest. Every other channel has no problem using an id with their over the air channel allocation...

Are they embarrassed by channel 59? And...there are a lot of DirecTV and Dish Network viewers who dont receive this on Channel "9".

We don't see FOX 61 being called FOX 6 as its on cable 6 on most cable systems and WTXX 20 is on channel 11 on most cable systems I believe. On mine it is.

Who was the one to think of this stupid idea UPN 9 now going to be My 9 anyway? They must not be that bright at WTNH/WCTX now.

On Cablevision of CT--Fox 61 is Cable 25. The Cable 6 belongs to NBC 30. Though for 'VIT most cable outlets out of Fairfield County go with Cable 4.

Technically, Fairfield County systems don't even have to carry them. I think WVIT-TV/DT is most concerned with Connecticut's 7 other counties, which make up the Hartford/New Haven DMA.

I'm interested in seeing what WTNH will do when Comcast acquires the four or five different Adelphia franchises in Connecticut. I see
that Comacast is revamping it's various CN8 channels into a northeast region-wide network.

My question is does Comcast air it's CN8 on channel 8? That would make sense to me if they did. But what about in Connecticut, is it WTNH-8 or CN8 that has the cable position?

It would be kind of funny if WTNH gets bumped from channel 8 in favor of CN8 when Comcast takes over Adelphia. How ironic would that be, if a fake station such as CN8 (like "UPN9"/WCTX-59) ends up in the channel position that should rightfully go to the local station using it's real ID! What would WTNH/WCTX say when it happens to them?! ;D

CN8 is carried on cable channel 3 in New Britain and Hartford while WFSB-TV (CBS) channel 3 is on cable channel 2. Blame the strong signal in this area from Avon Mountain for that. We get WTNH-TV (ABC) on cable channel 8 since that same thing from Hamden doesn't happen up here.

And probably for uniformity among the 3 COX systems in CT COX carries WTNH on Channel 7. I WTNH's strong signal causes interference on Cable 8 in the Meriden area if you have poor cable Connections. That's why they stuck WSAH on Channel 8. They figure they'll get less complaints about interference if they put an unpopular channel on that channel. They may have to put WSAH somewhere else if their yet-to-be announced new owner decides to run secular programming on it. My guess would be they'll bounce Connecticut Government Channel CT-N to 8 and move WSAH to 13 if WSAH's new ower decides to make it a secular TV station.

That's also why back when Americast Cable was around they put WHCT/18 on Channel 3. WHCT/18 was a shopping channel back then, so they would be less likely to be compliants about poor reception.

I remember back in the day Channel 7 used to be WFSB and WTNH was on Channel 10 while the rest were all on the same channel that they are on today. Now my question is why doesn't Cox just dump or move WSAH from 8 and but WTNH their? Can Cox Cable not put WFSB on 3 or WTNH on 8 for some reason. Cox could just move WFSB to 3 and Cox Sports to 2 as its no longer called Cox 3.

Hmmm, I've heard of the reasons for doing this, but I wonder why it's not done everywhere?

For example, WTNH is on cable channel 8 in most of the towns within a mile or so of its transmitter: Bethany/Prospect (Tele-Media), and Woodbridge (Cablevision). I wonder why this does not pose an interference problem here?
