WCTZ 96.7 files a new CP

WCTZ has filed an application to move to The Bronx instead of Long Island. It looks like it's a little further north than the new WFAS-FM location.

Interesting. They were going to move to LI originally and it seemed that the plan possibly was to rebroadcast one of the other Cox stations, most likely 'BLI, whose signal weakens considerably in Nassau County. Now it seems they'll go the WFAS route and target the city itself.

Any idea when either 96.7 or 103.9 will actually go on the air from the Bronx, however? It's been talked about for a while now but there hasn't seemed to be much action until this latest CP.

Interesting. I wonder what their reasoning would be. NYC and the Northern suburbs are already pretty saturated with AC and Hot AC stations - 106.7, 102.7, 95.5, plus 100.7, 103.9/106.3, 107.9, 99.9 all come in as well in most of Westchester and the Bronx.

Perhaps they're preparing to sell the station and will just keep the current format on until a sale?

Actually the CP calls for WCTZ's transmitter to be in Yonkers rather then the Bronx......The WCTZ move to Yonkers also caused WTSX Port Jervis to file a application to move SW to Lehman, PA which will cover the northern fringe of Stroudsburg, PA.

The Antenna site is going to be on the property of the Archdiocese of New York in Yonkers.(based on the coordinates 40° 47' 28.00" N Latitude 73° 40' 6.00 " W Longitude ) The Saint Joseph's Seminary has a tower used for ITV which is an educational channel for the Archdiocese.

The sooner the better. RF from 96.7 in stamford/old greenwich border to exit 9 sucks. Love to see 104.1, just come in a bit stronger in stamford due to no RF noise as much although 103.9, and 104.3 get it a lot too. I tell you that 3,000 watt cooker gets me in old greenwich pretty good 2 miles away from the transmitter. it would definately benifit 95.1 WRKI a bit as well for stamford when it moves IMHO.

As mentioned on the "Bloomberg FM" thread by neo11, the 96.7 signal is rumored to possibly becoming the home of a simulcast of the WBBR-AM-1130 business format. Would Cox sell the signal to Bloomberg LP or could there be some other "agreement" reached?
