WCVB 5 all night late at night

Does anyone remember the Five all night late at night promos? The guy who use to be in the shadows during breaks? Also there use to be a one minute break were the station would play a musical bit about New England. All I remember it usually would be shown before the old news reels from the 30-40s. I think it would say a minute or moment in New England. I could be wrong but trying to remember this back 30 years ago is tough.

Yup! We were "Five All Night Owls" with a nifty button to wear proudly!

Old weird elecric Uncle George (Fennell?) was the overnite man in the shadows that hosted on WCVB.

Well..... sort of..... George Fennell DID do the voice-overs for "Five All Night". "Five All Night" made history as Boston's first all night television on WCVB-TV beginning in 1972. However, George was not the man with the hat in the shadows, sitting on a barstool. I've been told that the "man in the shadows" was none other that "Mr. Trivia" himself, Morgan White, Jr. (though you would not hear his voice at the time. You'd hear George's voice-overs.). Morgan also had a little reprise of his on air persona (with his own voice as well) doing "Studio 62, East" on Channel 62 (WMFP) before that station was sold to Shop At Home, several years ago.
