WCVB Movie 5 Theme/Intro needs some serious updating

I just saw at around 4am, the Movie 5 theme from the 1980's, I kinda like that theme since it's old, but that Movie 5 WCVB theme needs some serious makeover. It is around 15-20 years old.

It's a really catchy theme, kinda remindes me of the Oscars. I've always wanted to know who composed it. Does anyone know who? Since you say it was from the 80s, was it Telesound or Frank Gari? I'll admit, the graphics should be updated to match the current Hearst-Argyle look, but that hot theme can stay. They should be ashamed of themselves if they ever give it a techno remix. Old is in and should stay, even 20 years from now.

Hahaha...the music for the "Insert Call Letters Here" Movie Of The Week is old at EVERY station. LVI? WNDS! Cmon now. Haha...I like it. It has an "Action News" type of sentimental value.

I have a feeling that the reason why WCVB-TV does not "update" its' Movie Theme or bumpers is pretty simple..... very few local stations (including WCVB-TV) play their own movies anymore. And usually, any movie show is either pre-recorded from the network (a-la UPN38) or they're simply using the last "runs" of their movie library. WCVB-TV has very little syndicated product these days, except for talk shows like "Oprah" or "reality shows" (what an oxymoron) and the like. WCVB-TV used to have probably one of the largest classic film libraries in Boston, except for 38 or 56 which used to play movies every night until the "network fever of the 1990's" took over. So, in answer to your question.... why do they need to update the movie theme.... when they rarely play any movies at all, anymore.

How I miss "The Great Entertainment".

Unless WCVB-5 is "burning off" their movie library and is not going to acquire any more titles, they should update the intro.

The music might stay, but the visual part of the intro should be replaced with some fantastic computer-generated animation, which nowadays can be done in-house at WCVB (or almost any local TV station).
