WCVB Sports Anchor Mike Lynch To Retire

Mike Lynch, longtime principal sports anchor at Hearst Television WCVB Boston (DMA 9), announced he will retire on Aug. 15.

Fondly referred to as “Lynchie” by his fans and colleagues, Lynch was named the Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year an unprecedented 16 times and has been an integral part of WCVB’s SportsCenter 5 team for more than 37 years.



“After nearly 40 years at WCVB, I’ve decided it’s time to step away from the daily anchoring of SportsCenter 5. But it’s not goodbye … I’m looking forward to remaining in the sports mix at the station, working on special assignments, major sporting events, ‘High 5,’ and the annual ‘High 5: Salute to Thanksgiving Heroes,” said Lynch when making the announcement.

Mike Lynch to leave WCVB 5 News in August according to Hearst Television.
