WCVG The All Elvis Format Remembered

I remember this format and listened to it all the time. Now Sirius has an all Elvis all the time and it seems to be doing well. I would go by the Milford studio everyday and wished I had stopped in now. Long live the King!
 
So the studios were in Milford? That is a good distance from Covington. How is the 1320 khz signal out there? Does anyone know how the studios ended up so far away?

The studio used to have to be located within the community of license. That has been adjusted somewhat. I believe they amended it to "within 25 miles". It could have changed again since then.
 
I think when the station was on the Elvis format many folks in our area thought they actually broadcast from Milford. We couldn't understand why it was difficult to pick the station up at certain times of the day. The studio was on RT 50 at the edge of Milford in a little strip area. If my memory serves me correctly, they moved the studio soon after Elvis left the airways.
 
Milford to Covington is a good trip. The signal augments due north from Covington during the daytime. So you were definitely on the fringe. But I am sure that it was nice to have a studio somewhere other than in the city.
 
Since WCVG is still for sale, it's time for someone to buy it and pare it with an FM translator. Stunt with the Elvis format for a month.
 
It would be a good stunt...in an era where everything is so regimented and programmed...something like this would be a breath of fresh air.

There are some possibilities with respect to translators as well.

What would the format be after the all Elvis stunt?

It wasn't a stunt. It ran for 54 weeks but simply ran its course.

You can locate in the COL or within your 5 MV/M or within 25 miles of your COL or within another stations 5MV/M provided that they have the same COL as you do.
 
No, the original all-Elvis format idea was not a stunt... but Microbob's idea to run it for 30 days prior to launching the real format would constitute a stunt.
