WCWG Stays At The Strip Club

Harry J Pappas owns WCWG. He's currently living in Reno, NV. To my knowledge, he has never owned any restaurants in North Carolina. He has previously owned television stations here.

"Pappas" is the Greek equivalent for "Smith".

He follows the CC rule book. Just moved a Modesto AM to San Francisco with two different tower sites. Nite is on a mountain with generator
since regular power not there. A 50,000 watt loser. Daytime is different site. Still overall its bad coverage and a real loser. Go to San Francisco board it's all there.

Sorry, Don't know how long you've been around WS, But Pappas owned Tavern on the Green in Winston along with another one (the name escapes me) at the bottom of the Thruway Mall..I've got 1970 Airchecks from WTOB with TOG on them!
Right, it was a huge salad bar.

I thought that was Sam's Gourmet with the big salad bar?

What I said. The restaurant in the bottom of Thruway, with the huge salad bar. That's right it was Sam's Gourmet.

Wesradio,
Are you sure it was Harry J. Pappas of Pappas Telecasting - he would have been in his early 20's at the time. There's no info about Winston in his bio http://www.pappastv.com/biography.php?id=1 - http://www.pappastv.com/biography.php?id=1

Winston's got a large Greek population, there's a good chance it was another Harry Pappas. Especially since this Harry Pappas is a California native.

That San Fran radio station was a bear to get done - Environmentalists, Federal Land and stuff that would have other owners throwing their hands up. One thing I will say for Mr. Pappas is that he can get things done. He squeezed Channel 54 into the LA market on Mt Wilson - the first new TV station in LA in over 30 years.
