WCYQ Knoxville Looking For Air Talent

Saw on All Access that CYQ is looking for someone...I've always wanted to be back closer to my home (Bristol) and was wondering if any of you East Tennessee vets can give any light on the station...whether it would be worth looking into.

Any input?

Lots of voice tracking. They can use more live. Nice studios in an industrial section of Knoxville close to west Knox and the interstate. Not much turnover in air staff in that building. They used to have a reputation for changing format too often. Who knows, this could be one of those times. All three formats are teen-friendly. They could use an oldies format again.

I'm hearing that they may be changing formats yet again. Possibly something "rock" to head off the attack when 94 comes back to the Pirkles later this year.

I read somewhere where they were just adding/rearranging DJ's to give it a local feel. Personally, I don't listen since 1) they're country and 2) they're just a bad WIVK wannabe.

Yawn... let's try oldies or classic hits (NOT classic rock, NOT another Jack, NOT rhythmic, NOT hot AC, NOT.... ::)). Try 70s/80s classic hits. Other towns have it and it sounds great. I know... we're not other towns. Yawn.

Maybe it's an investment in the future of country music. 20-year olds don't want to be talked to now, but when they turn 40 those jocks will have been there for 'em for a couple of decades.

Or it's a bad business decision. Or it's a format change. Play enough 70's pop and C.P. & Walker will want to come back. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
