I was visiting Portland yesterday and had the radio on WCYY-FM 94.3 the whole time. I love the sound of this station! Here in Connecticut, we used to have Radio 104, which played a lot of modern rock. This station sounds an awful lot like that. On a related question, how much of an area does the station have when you combine their satellite in Lewiston/Auburn on 93.9 FM? My Panasonic CD walkman got a decent signal of 94.3 up until the Wells/Ogunquit town line and then overload took over by the York town line with Portsmouth, NH (especially WHEB-FM).

WCYY sounded good to me. Anyways, Portland is a small market compared to Boston. I don't usually listen to WFNX-FM when I'm in Boston.

I listened to WFNX-FM 101.7 for about an hour on my way out of Boston last night. I hate the fact they imply New Hampshire on 92.1 FM. Yes, that station is licensed to Sanford, ME and I remember only getting a so-so signal when I lived in Old Orchard Beach. That doesn't bode well considering both towns are in York County. As for the 92.1 signal, is that supposed to be WFNX's attempt to cover the Portsmouth area?

Thanks for the info? Ha ha! Usually when I go through Portsmouth, most everything gets wiped out by WHEB-FM 100.3.

Kevin and all-as noted on the northern ne radio board--WCYY's Lewiston signal-WCYI is for sale...so soon, your initial question will be moot.

WCYY is sounding pretty good these days--music wise. I've never been a fan of their jocks, but that's just me. They certainly have hit their demo solidly.

I guess this station gives the scene kids what they want...worst air staff in america. I believe they talk just to hear themselves. Someone told me that Robin Ivy is married to the orperations manager at that cluster. If that is true it is the only explination for why she has a morning show.

Even the 92.1 signal gets sketchy in Portsmouth when I am driving through- normally pretty good though. Plus there is WSCA in portsmouth and some college radio on WXGR if you want alternative (although both are eclectic to a fault). WPHX is a college age 20 something station that I don't understand and if boston ratings are to be beleived it isn't setting the world on fire.

neither are their satellight stations either, but i haven't seen the in depth ratings (the 12+ can be misleading sometimes)

The Facemelter on CYY used to be pretty awful, but at least he tallked about the music more than he talked about himself. Robin (who used to be married to OM Herb Ivy and has a kid with him) spends what feels feel HOURS talking about herself and her stupid zodiac BS. Just awful. Seriously, there are Sunday morning overnighters who are better than her. Horrid.

I knew she was married to someone who had power at that joint. Thank God they have reigned in her Zodiac Zone. They used to run it three times a morning for 30 each time. Hey in case you didnt know, she has a lot of friends on her myspace page and loves 30 seconds to mars...

funny. Hey Robin, you're 44, not 24!

I have seen ads that look for jocks who "live the lifestyle." Are her myspace friends and love for Jared Leto examples of this? It certainly must help her relate to their target demo?

At the White Stripes show? More than likely. Probably wearing a thong and a fresh Brazilian to go with. Now excuse me, I just made myself vomit a little in my mouth.
