WCZX Mix 97 Playing Too many Commercials! What's wrong with them ?

I'm hearing a strange broadcasts from Mix 97 WCZX from their online stream, they seems to break for commercials every other song or so. At least this is the way it appears from their online stream. If this is also being done over the air how can they keep their audience ? Not a smart move to attract more listeners. Are they thinking straight ?

Were you listening in morning or afternoon drive when they played the commercial loads?

This is a busy time of the year for the spot loads and christmas advertising. I don't listen to Miller but I'm sure they spread them out a little. As far as "playing too many commercials"??? Radio stations make their living off commercials, this is why they are in business, Sparky....Most would love to "play too many commercials".... ??? ???

I'll have what Musicradio is smoking ::)

Well actually "too many commercials" will result in "too little audience" with which to sell to advertisers.
Commercials ARE a tune-out....however, they are the lifeblood...so you need to find a happy middle ground.
Most stations limit the amount of commercials in an hour. And when you're totally sold out...the answer is to
raise spot rates NOT to add more commercials. So in essence, "Sparky" is right.

Warm... are you trying to say that most stations would love to be in a "sold-out" situation?  If that is what you are saying, then you are absolutely right.  Now, do stations love to be in an "oversold" situation?  Absolutely not.  Like "USSR" mentioned, commercials are a tune out.

Unfortunately, commercials are one of the evil necessities in broadcasting.  Stations must sell advertising to make the "all-mighty" dollar.  To keep an audience, however, stations must cap their available inventory per hour.

I cannot stand to listen to Mix 97.7 anyway... but, if they are playing "too many commercials," I wonder how the other Hot AC stations in the market are benefiting (if at all)?

I can't find myself listening to them or any station that plays that many commercials in the morning or any part of the day...especially online with their enjoying messages..."We are in a commercial break..." some stations like WPDH are very creative and useful taking time to promote their station during these breaks with their music format. I give WPDH full credit for this.

Mix 97.7 (97.3) used to the best station in the Hudson Valley when it was oldies. Now it's the same old songs you can hear on WHUD, WLTW, Q92.1, Star 93.3, PLJ etc..
