WDAS 1480 Audio

doesn't sound too bad. I was listening today for the first time and they played Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You."

The station seems to have nice highs for AM. I figured because it's such a low power and "forgotten" station that the equipment might be old and antiquated but it doesn't sound like it is. Anyone know how the stable the ground system is and what type of equipment they are using?

Given how well I can hear them down in Delaware, their ground system must still be good.

Since they returned to R & B, I have been amazed at how good the audio is. Its excellent on-line, of course. But over the air is also great. I'm impressed that CC is actually doing something right!

Another reason why 1480 puts a good daytime signal into Delaware is that, if the array is performing as it should, the signal in the general direction of Wilmington is the equivalent of about 20 kW ND.

I'm still trying to fathom hearing Mariah Carey on the AM band... ::)

WDAS AM rebuilt their antenna system a few years back, replacing very outdated open transmission line. If a new phaser and ATU's were installed, I'm sure that improved the bandwidth of the audio, it even sounds good over in my area south of York during the day, mixing with WEEO Shippensburg.

Has anyone heard what day WDAS-AM will switch from Christmas to Oldies? I am starting to suspect they may stick with the holiday music until next Monday.
