Not that I ever have reason to listen to WDBO for more than a few minutes, but now I hear they give away $1000 every morning ... is that the way news/talk garner's listeners these days? Why not invest $1000/day in some talent that would make people want to listen instead.
 
Its Cox, They pay listeners to listen to the same 200 songs just to hear some Whistle or Cha-Ching. Then if they are the 100th caller pay them $1,000 if the can cite the song after the whistle.

However do agree with you. That money can be spent on Talent.
 
You'd think you'd be raking in the listeners by default with your new FM signal...
 
It works, people need money. it's been proven that listeners will spend more time to grab the cash. i belive they are calling out names of people who sign up at the website, even better. People get excited waiting for there names, and about piss themselves if it's called. Jim Turner is rock solid, it's not a commentary on his on air talent, it's an attempt to blow life into an idea that hasn't taken off. Combined, WDBO am and FM post respectable numbers, but take away the AM, and it's on life support. Merlin media is getting raked in NY and Chicago, posting numbers like 0.5. If the PD's who shut the air talent up, or fired them to play 9 loser songs an hour, claiming PPM favored music on fom ....MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC, then why in the hell, do you then turn around, and put a 45 plus talk station on FM???? TALENT? lets take a survey of all the super talented people blown out in the last year or so on JYP, hell K92 is on there 5th morning show in 10 years, isn't that a sign?
 
While we're at it, take a look at the talent that's been blown out in the market as a whole in the last 10 years. It's mind-boggling.
