WDBO Moves Clark Howard To Late Nights

Since WDBO dumped Michael Savage, Mel has been on nights (when a game is not being broadcast) for several weeks now following Mark Levin from 10p-12 Midnight.

Most likely done by the fools who think think the AM 580 call numbers are no longer viable anymore. From listening to some of the sweepers it sounds as if their either selling it or changing formats.

I listened to her this morning, because I am up here in Boston. she is on 96-9 Boston Talks on the weekends. Her topic this morning(wait for it): IF A CHILD CATCHES THEIR PARENTS HAVING SEX! Really. It's sad, isn't it. Clark gets replaced with girly, hot talk, trash like that. Sad.

I'm not impressed. Plus it seems like magic rewind was a bunch of crap to WDBO. heaven forbid people miss this chick. She was even more important than the magic at times. A lot of times magic rewind would get interupted for this BS. Yeah, I'm a huge magic fan. So what? I don't want my magic interupted for some stupid talk crap. How did the magic get on WDBO anyway? I'm just curious on how that came about. I think the magic have been on dbo since the beginning. I guess back then there were no sports stations in this market? Just my guess. I was only one back in 89.

They were originally on 740 but it was not a sports station at the time. 580 was really the only AM with any ratings, and teams had not started to look to FM music stations as their flagships yet. So it was more or less by default, but it worked for both parties.

OK Parttimer. Thanks for clearing things up. I'm not against this chick and her show. I just am getting sick of DXing 1010 from tampa for the magic rewind. I enjoy when they have the players from the locker room on and stuff like that. Hopefully now they can play the magic rewind without no problems.

Why don't they run the same lineup WSKY and WOKV in Gainesville and Jax, respectively run?

9am-12noon-Boortz
12n-3pm-El Rushbo
3-6-Hannity
6-9-Clark Howard

Well, for one thing, Clear Channel owned 540 WFLA (WFLF) Orlando, airs Rush, which is distributed by Premier, which is a branch of Clear Channel! ;D

When did WSKY add Sean Hannity? The last time I checked, Hannity was on WBXY 99.5 while "The Sky" aired a local show called "The Drive-Time Happy Hour" during the 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM time slot.

NO HANNITY. NO HOWARD AND BOORTZ DOESN'T START TILL 10 WITH THE BONUS HOUR AT 6 PM ON WSKY. author=jmtillery link=topic=207727.msg1861112#msg1861112 date=1331090100]

Again, It's obvious why Rush can't be a part of the WDBO lineup, since he's already on Clear Channels's AM 540. I was DX'ing WDBO from North Florida during the 1'oclock hour, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears WDBO is ONLY including the FM 96.5 mention in ALL of their station imaging, both live and recorded. I realize they're trying to reach a younger demo, and that the 100kw FM covers more Central Florida real estate with a solid signal, but it seems curious to TOTALLY leave out their heritage AM 580 WDBO. If what I heard is true, I would imagine it possible they may not even have to mention WDBO-AM in their legal ID, unless it's required in their license, and/or because of their assigned AM call letters.

The licensee is still required to give a legal ID for WDBO(AM) at least once each hour. An example of a simulcast legal ID is "WDBO - WDBO-FM Orlando." Orlando only needs to be mentioned once since both stations are licensed to Orlando. If, for example, the FM is licensed to another city such as Deland, and is co-owned with an AM station licensed to Orlando, an example of a legal simulcast ID would be "WXXX Orlando - WXXX-FM Deland".

Re: WDBO call numbers

For the legal ID, I've heard either WDBO-AM, WDBO-FM Orlando or WDBO-AM & FM Orlando. I don't see why they couldn't say WDBO-AM 580 FM 96.5 Orlando or WDBO FM 96.5 AM 580 Orlando (back in the 80's / early 90's an AM/FM simulcast on Long Island used to ID call letters & numbers). They have been on AM 580 since 1932 and this simulcast on 96.5 since last August. So 80 years on AM and 8 months on FM and one would think by listening nowadays that the AM never existed

A legal ID MUST have the call letters FOLLOWED by the city of license - NO EXCEPTIONS! For example: WDBO Orlando, is legal, but WDBO AM 580 Orlando IS NOT. That's the rule.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but according to the FCC database,

http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/cfr_2009/octqtr/47cfr73.1201.htm
