WDDY Silent

1460 Albany taken silent by Radio Disney pending possible sale. BTW, it's sad what has happened to this signal. In the time since I moved to the Albany area (1977) the signal deteriorated worse than any other area AM.

(In 1962, this signal, then WOKO, was clearly audible 50 miles away from Albany, in a motel ten miles west of Lake George. Source: Vivienne Michel, in Ian Fleming's "The Spy who Loved Me." And it really did travel well at least as far as Glens Falls in '77.)

That stinks! :( If you want a better station than "Radio Disney", you should check out another "Radio Disney" station at 1560 AM in NYC which is WQEW where it used to be standards. 1560 AM has a huge 50 KW signal like WKBW did many years ago. You should pick it up at night. "Radio Disney" at 1560 AM carries very well in Poughkeepsie, Kingston, New Paltz, Fishkill, Catskill, Saugerties and other places where you can get your "Radio Disney" fix. If you can pick it up in day parts, you should try the following:

They got streaming there. I'll put 2 links to a WQEW's signal pattern for day and night.

I'm several times the age to be in the Radio Disney demo. :) I'd be very happy if someone picked up the 1460 signal and did something with it, but more likely it will lay fallow or be bought for peanuts and soldier on its deteriorated state as brokered, religion or both. (I'm one who thinks that this signal would be a good one to go Spanish, there being a definitely growing Spanish-speaking market here.)

A bit O/T, but ditto that WQEW signal, Chris. They do send a lot of it over New England, but we get them
here in NEPA (near Hazleton/Pottsville) all day and night on a good portable. Sometimes even in the car.
There was a suggestion on another forum about putting the games of the WFAN-evicted Mets games on 1560.
It would mean the fewest 'everyday' listeners being put out, simply because Disney 1560 doesn't have many
listeners in the first place.
