As of today January 4, WDEA is now with "Music Of Your Life" after the demise of "Timeless Favorites".

And it sounds great...noticed it just after the 9AM news this morning. The first break at 9:15 was a dead giveaway mentioning the Music of Your LIfe...and nice to hear Peter Marshall on this afternoon. Good move WDEA! Timeless Favorites was getting way too 80s/90s...same stuff you can hear elsewhere.

As a "former" regular listener I totally disagree. "Timeless favorites" was a perfect format for the maturing "boomer Generation". "Music of your life" appeals to the ever dwindling "Greatest Generation". I for one am sorry to hear the change. I wish WDEA would find another source for "Timeless favorites" or produce such a format on their own.

They could've switched to the Dial Global's Adult Standards, which is a lot like Timeless Favorites was.

And I think that is exactly who WDEA is trying to serve. Hancock County and DownEast Maine has a large senior population...I don't know the exact statistics. But with all of the other Bangor/Ellsworth stations going after the 25-54 crowd, it's nice to see the usually-avoided 55+ crowd being served. (of which I admit to being one). And, to WDEA's credit they are broadcasting live High-School Basketball games all season, as well as the Red Sox again this summer.

Music of Your Life is not as concerned with age and demos as it is with playing great music. While we focus 80% on the Great American Songbook, we also incorporate 20% of classic hits. Unlike Dial and Timeless, we don't play the same 500-600 tired, worn-out, soft A/C songs over and over. You may here us play a classic from Sinatra, to Ella, Buble, Renee Olstead and then shift gears to a classic from Simon & Garfunkle. If you're looking at demos, that quarter hour of titles just covered 25-80. It's all about great music. We also feel Pete Marshall, Pat Boone, Tony DeSare, Steve Torme, Johnny Magnus, Les Brown Jr. and the rest of the gang add something to the delivery as well. We want to thank WDEA and their listeners for coming aboard! --Marc Angell, CEO, Music of Your Life

Marc and RJOC have it right! Excellent response to the change. Good music is very non-generational. Once when I hosted a Big Band show some of my most avid listeners were quite young--6-8 years old. "Music of Your Life" is doing it right. WDEA indeed doesn't sound like any other station in the area--and that is the whole idea.
