For those of you on Facebook, you may want to check out WDEL's page. They previewed their new TV ad there yesterday. I thought it was effective. Am interested in hearing the opinion of other viewers.
The use of (mostly) silence is a pretty neat idea for a TV ad. Even those not really paying attention at that time would likely realize there's silence and take notice. On another note, it's interesting to see someone in radio doing outside marketing these days. Seems to have been one of the first things cut at all the companies when times got tough.
I went on facebook and saw the WDEL TV spot. Yes, the silence was very effective. A very simple, but effective spot. I wonder which TV station's they'll be buying time on to air it. Possible simply Comcast Cable. Or maybe during the 6 pm newscasts on 3,6,10, and 29.
More likely WDEL's spot will air on New Castle County and Wilmington's Comcast system as do the many local car commercials. Philly TV is way too expensive and most of that audience can't get WDEL and even if they could wouldn't be interested.
