WDEL is humbled and celebrating the news that we’ve been named one the nation’s best newscasts by the Radio-Television News Directors Association. ( http://www.rtnda.org/pages/media_items/2009-edward-r.-murrow-national-winners1799.php )
RTNDA announced Monday that WDEL has won the national Edward R. Murrow award for Best Newcast in radio markets 51 and larger. There were 10 other entries in the competition representing stations from California to Massachussettes.
Our entry was the June 5, 2008 edition of “Delaware’s Morning News,” and in addition to co-anchors Peter MacArthur and Mellany Armstrong, the newscast included contributions of nearly every member of WDEL’s news, sports and TrafficWatch team.
WDEL will receive the award during a black tie gala dinner in New York City in October.
