WDEL's web site vs WILM's web site

As more and more folks are listening online, especially at work, I've checked out both WDEL and WILM's web sites. www.wdel.com. www.wilm.com.
Even though I listen to Bruce Elliot in the Morning on WILM and prefer their set up for spot breaks during AM drive, their web site is not as good as WDEL's.

WDEL has an excellent web site with plenty of podcast stuff both from WDEL and CBS radio. WILM's web site works fine, but just doesn't have as much or is as easy to read, for my eye, as WDEL's. Both WDEL and WILM have listen now buttons. That is a great feature as it makes each station sound like its FM rather than AM. A much more pleasant experience. That's my spin, others may have a different view.

I can't stand WILM's web site, which copies the normal CC approach.

I visit WDEL's every day, primarily for Allan's blog, but also for Phillies updates, etc.

In the morning, I have had problems listening to WDEL on-line. Often, there is the feeling one channel is missing.

I haven't tried going online to listen as early, when I do around 9 for Al's show it usually works OK, but one wouldn't expect the early hours to be overwhelmed with listeners. If you're at work, it could be part of your employers network filtering stuff that may be causing the problem. I get better results trying to listen on line to stuff at home than at work, but it is far better than it used to be.

I'm in Ridley Park. Although WDEL is loud and clear in the parking lot, in the building it ain't there! WDEL, in morning drive, is the only time I have trouble with them or any on-line station.

During the work day, I have problems with NPR's online, so I usually just down load it which takes about two minutes and then listen to the program I want.

Interestingly, WHYY-FM's Radio Times works great all the time without having to download, yet Fresh Air which runs on the NPR online engine is like the other NPR shows even though its produced at WHYY.

I don't believe that WHYY-FM or NPR has a listen live button. You can click on a 24hour web stream from NPR which doesn't necessarily have what's on air at that moment, I've not had much luck with it working very well while at work, but as far as a specific show like Morning Edition, they aren't available until later in the day. It appears that both NPR and WHYY-FM want you to listen to the radio to hear their programming live. There are some days, depending on what heavy equipment is being used in our building that makes 90.9 not available, and since I can't listen live online, I listen to something else on those days. Frankly I think they're missing a bet. WDEL sees the potential to grow their younger listeners with online and to reach those at work who can not get 1150.

Car Talk from APM (American Public Media) works great online.

Fox News Radio has a listen live button, sometimes during the day it works, but it seems more often than not it doesn't work very well.

I listened to the GOP debate the other night on Fox News live online. It kept buffering. It was a pain to be quite honest. Oddly enough, that first debate in June on CNN.com was great. Oddly enough, the CNN debate had been made available to C-SPAN, but apparently Fox didn't make it available to C-SPAN.

990 WNTP and 1210 WPHT's online listen now works great too.

If you like Country Gold, KMPS-FM from Seattle, a Today's Country format station has an HD-2 online station that has a great selection of Country Gold ranging from the 1950's to 2000. Also an online Oldies station called Oldies 104 available via Windows Media Player's Internet Radio. A far better mixture of Oldies than WOGL.
