WDET--Trying to Attract Younger Listeners

Considering the total audience for WDET is so tiny (1.1 cume), I'm not sure why their efforts to attract more of a younger demo, which is only a small fraction of that 1.1 rate an article, but here it is. In any case, the piece contains some aspects relevant to a broader discussion on so called 'public radio' and the issues the NPR affiliates are having with the graying of their core audience.
 
Uh, one of the resident con-servative shills has chimed-in.

"DETROIT — Public radio’s audience is getting older. In 1995, the median NPR listener was 45 years old; according to a report last fall, the number is now 54."

So a nine year median rise in 21 years. Those are stats the commercial talk sector would kill for.

It is not bleak at all for major market non-coms.
