WDGY Modernization

Noticing more 80s titles popping up every so often on WDGY, and the number of 60s seems to be reduced a bit -- They also have a new logo, updated imaging, an updated slogan ("All The Hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s"), and the audio quality on top of everything else has been improved. I'm really impressed! I wonder if they're trying for more Kool 108 listeners?

Kool 108 is drifting more and more into the 90s with each passing year as the demographics are shifting. I'd imagine WDGY is experiencing the same thing. If you graduated high school in 1969, you'd be in your 70's now.

I hate to admit that, because Kool 108 now plays the music of MY childhood, and I remember back in the 80's they were playing Beatles, Beach Boys, etc. If anything, the age of the music on Kool 108 is now older than it was in 1988. If anything, I could see Kool 108 starting to drop the older 80s songs and leaving them to WDGY. WCBS is already playing many more 90s songs than Kool (No Doubt, Haddaway, Fugees, etc.)

While their playlist modernized, they turned off their HD broadcast last year. I wonder if they will bring that back sometime soon. I was e-mailing with someone at the station, and they were not sure, but they did say the better sound quality on the AM HD was appreciated.

Last time I heard the AM in HD it was clipping like crazy and just sounded pathetic. It might be best for WDGY to stick with regular analog.... don't know if they've reactivated C-Quam or not...

I think they did reactive C-Quam. I drove around the area today and noticed stereo reception in my car when I was close to the station.
