WDHA signal increase

An "Industry Trade" paper reports that WDHA is applying to double its' power to 2kw. It reportedly will be directional N-S to avoid interference with Philly and NY.

i wish it would reach the levittown pa area

will it be able to soon?

oh, i've tried numerous times to pick up 105.5, and i could never even get it in faintly.....do you kn ow if its possible to do?

and 95.9 The Rat, i could never pull that in either...except one day my dad was putting a new stereo in his camaro, and i had it tuned in while we were testing the radio (they were playing "Evenflow" From Pearl Jam, Then "The Pot" From Tool) it was a little staticy, then a little later, i tried getting it tuned in inside, i messed with the antenna for almost an hour, not even a trace of it...and i've tried to pull WRAT in numerous times just like i have WDHA...i may try it again next time i get a chance in my dads camaro (the car just may be in the right spot to pull it in)...or maybe it was a Tropo DX, i have no idea. what do u think?

WDHA is heard "relatively well" as far south as Eatontown which is exit 105 on the GSP. Anything further south starts to pick up more and more interference or "static" if you will from "The Hawk." I would also say that IMO you can pick it up as far SW as say Flemington and anything further south or SW becomes an issue with adjacent WDAS. If you picked up 'DHA in Levittown in the summer it more than likely was a Tropo Skip. If not, you may have been parked "just right" in the driveway. For me that's kinda of like picking up WRKI or "I-95" from CT... it's a gamble and you have to be positioned just right. So much infact that maybe you want to get out and chalk the tire outlines in your driveway if you get it ;D

The application for the "upgrade" looks as though Sussex will get a better signal as well as Middlesex & Monmouth which perplexes me to a bit given the location of it's sister WRAT. "The Rat" as noted several times comes in quite well in through Central Ocean, but very well in Northern Monmouth where these two signals will be overlapping considerably. They seem to be having trouble selling in their "home market." Whatever makes them think that they will be able to sell further NW and SE is interesting within itself. Maybe they can sell their "Double Play Weekends" which seem to be the new "format du jour" on the weekends. Atleast mix up the tunes if you plan on making this a weekly event. Unfortunately for me we have to listen to WDHA at work because we can't get 'MMR good enough or WRAT at all. Hell if we could pull in WNNJ, that would be a lot better and a pleasure to listen to in terms of variety. Now let me just say I'm not trying to knock DHA but as a P1 (by default) I can just offer my opinion.

I was considering satellite but I figured I would see what comes from the merger. Radio, for me, needs to offer more variety if they want to keep me around. And before anyone cites "Research" I think going with "your gut" has better potential to be successful. HD better work if it was "terrestrial radio's" last ditch effort to stay in the game...

i had WRAT in, not DHA, but are the odds just as unlikely for WRAT as they are for WDHA?

I would simply say YES based on the fact that you are MUCH closer to the adjacent 95.7 WBEN. It's a long shot but you may, just may, stand a slighter greater shot of picking up "The RAT" but I wouldn't bet the paycheck on it. Same deal would apply for G-Rock I would imagine with adjacent 106.1 Some people have noted in the past that the old 98.5 which used to simulcast the G-Rock audio was more audible further west towards the Philly burbs than 106.3 Give that a shot, I'd be curious...

alright, will do, i'd like to give it a try...if i knew where to get a roof antenna, i could get a lot of stuff probably...

i dont get why i can get Q104 and WFNY from The NYC (they both are adjacent to local stations as well), but can't get 105.5 or 95.9 (this is what is bothering me the most)...especially 95.9 b/c 105.7 comes in like a local, with hardly any static at all and they both come from the same general area, and according to WRAT map on radio locator...the rat can be picked up in trenton...and i know a lot of the maps are actually a lot bigger than they are shown on radio-locator...for example...WMMR comes in fairly well in the pottsville area, but according to radil-locator, they cant be heard there...in fact, the map shows that it cant even be heard anywhere near the county

Why bother? So you can hear one of their (we have no idea what we"re doing, and cant think of anything better) Double play weekends? Might as well turn it off at this point nobody even cares enough to bash the station on here anymore as much as wanna listen to it. lol

WRAT and WCHR-FM are about 35 miles apart.

105.7 (WCHR-FM) transmits from Manahawkin, NJ. You can't even get WRAT in Manahawkin.

105.5 and 95.9 are class A's with lower power and lower HAAT than the class B NYC stations. 105.7 is a class B1 which helps also.
