Fort Myers WDIZ 1320 Venice, FL

I used to enjoy this oldies station a few years ago, but haven't been able to hear them since. Does anyone know if they made a change, or maybe a storm wiped them out?

I live north of Tampa
Two local AM's never returned to the air after Milton.
Been dark since October 2024
Dade City and Zephyrhills
1350 and 1400
WDCF and WZHR

It's an iHeart station, so it's easy to get WDIZ on the iHeartRadio platform. According to Wikipedia, it simply uses iHeart's "Real Oldies" service. I think WSAN Allentown PA also uses it. It has voicetracked DJs so it's not just songs with liners and commercials.

Neither one is listed as currently being silent
Actually both have been dark (as well as translators) since at least Friday August 30th 2024, I too have been by both towers and zilch! The Suntalk (or whatever they’re called) 1340 in Clearwater is still on the air (confirmed yesterday as I had to drive to Saint Petersburg). Prior to around Hurricane Milton and Helene, they were on air some days and not other days, some days the 1400 was on air, other days, 1350 was on the air, sometimes both were broadcasting. The fact that this thread started more than two months after both stations went silent speaks volumes of their listenership or lack thereof!! 😞 From where I am in ARidge Manor, near the Sumter county line, for a brief moment I thought 1400 was back on the air on reduced power, turns out it was the 1400 out of Sanford!

Why don’t you report them to the FCC?

Why don’t you report them to the FCC?

The FCC generally doesnt act on "theyre off the air" reports from consumers. irrefutable proof from consumers even often doesnt fly and they depend on records from a licensee.

Don't need to write the FCC directly, just make a social media post that catches Brendan Carr's attention. No irrefutable proof needed.

I did see that WTAN owner in Clearwater, that owns WDCF at least, has not paid his 2024 property tax bill, according to county records.

I know at least on residential property tax bills for 2024; one has until the end of this month to pay online, but after March 1st (coming up fast) it requires a certified check and I’m thinking that has to be paid in person….please correct if I’m wrong! Also even though 1350 and 1400 have different owners listed, they both list their business address as WDCF Rd, Dade City, FL

i guess I saw previous year was paid for Nov 30
my bad, you are right about the system, nothing is bad until April 1
Last year, early 2024, I would listen to the LPFM for WZHR. Oldies ! That never came back.
