WDJO night signal

I never listened to 1160 until it changed to oldies WDJO. I am very surprised at how poor their night pattern is. Saw a lot of post about it before and now I understand, especially at the upset Bengal fans when they where on WBOB. I don't even live all that far from their transmitter. I am in Highland Heights Ky close to NKU. I could pick up WNOP at night with only 30 watts almost as good as I could during the daytime.
I guess my question is does anyone in this area get a decent signal from WDJO at night? It is a shame if this is as good as it is going to be.

I always had trouble with 1160 in Campbell County at night. You get WNOP so well because they're licensed to Newport and shoot the largest chunk of their signal in your direction. Can't hear WNOP at night at all in Florence and then not until you're at Buttermilk on NB 75.

I was on the west side tonight near Western Hills Plaza. 1160 was good there, but not as good as usual. Could be the weather playing havoc with the signal. The night pattern isn't good on the east side at all.

Yeah the rainy weather up here in Central Indiana today was playing havoc with AM radio. Because I Got besides the usuall dull weak signal of WTAM-1100 and WKNR-850 out of Cleveland. I Also got a Rare Catch of WHLO-640 from Canton-Akron. Plus WKRC and KTRS out of St Louis were playing a duel on 550 usually I dont get KTRS except at night when i can null out WKRC on my radio.

Strange considering it is a fat lobe to the east. Here in the northeast burbs the night signal really varies. One night it may be somewhat listenable while the next night at the exact same time it is practically gone. If WYLL Chicago has gone to their new pattern, it has only helped WDJO a tiny bit. I still often hear WYLL quite easily underneath. Too bad DJO can't boost their nighttime power more. That may help some.

I meant to put this info about WYLL in my original post. I emailed their engineer on 2/16/06 and he answered that they were already on the new pattern.
He also said that they have heard WDJO and KMGS in the backround of WYLL's signal at night while driving around the Chicago area.

I spent Wednesday night in Monfort Heights, just outside the city limits on the northwest side. On a small portable radio, WDJO had a listenable signal but I could hear WYLL, especially if I rotated the radio nulling out WDJO a bit.

It's amazing how much weather affects AM. It was clear and cool Friday night, and WDJO had a great signal on Ronald Reagan Highway between Kenwood and I-75. Hardly any skywave at all. It was fading at the underpasses, but Cool Bobby B. was coming in loud and clear well after 9:00 pm power down. WCIN was also LOUD from there all the way to the Ohio River, then it was gone as soon as I got into Covington.
