WDJZ Station License Cancelled

As of this date the FCC Station License for WDJZ, Bridgeport is cancelled. This was due to the fact that the station failed to resume broadcast operations They were advised of this in correspondence from the FCC dated September 15, 2016.

Weren't they on 1530?? Seems I recall (many years ago.....!) hearing them at local sunset, trying to pick out WCKY, Cincinnati....

From what few examples I've seen, you can pay the fine or you can turn in the license. Take the second choice and the fine goes away because it was issued essentially to the license, not the individual nor the holder of the license. The way the FCC sees it, the government owns the spectrum and awards licenses for it's use. Thus, the radio station frequency is on loan via a license from the FCC.
