WDKF/WLQT calls

I flipped on 94.5 Lite FM this morning and heard that Lite's calls are still WDKF...I'm guessing Channel 99.9's calls are still WLQT? I'm guessing they have to wait for the FCC to move the calls from one frequency to the other. Then, I just heard on Channel 99.9 a spot where they said that 94.5 was WLQT. Can someone clear this up? If it was me, i'd re-do the Channel call sign to reflect the branding better. WDKF should go. Then again, the WGTZ sign should leave 92.9 too. They'll never drop those calls now, though. Just think, CC could take those WGTZ calls to 99.9 and call it Z100 and make it a clone of the REAL Z100 in NYC.

According to the FCC database as of yesterday, 99.9 is still WLQT and 94.5 still WDKF.

Given what's happened with some of the news/talk AM/FM simulcasts elsewhere in the country, I wouldn't rule out the possibility they don't bother flipping calls.

Way the heck off-topic but...

I was up there for the Hamvention last weekend. Stayed at the Crowne Plaza downtown. There's a small FM antenna -- two or three bays -- on top of another building two or three blocks due east of the Crowne. Anyone know who that is?

That would be the WQRP/WDPS time share at 89.5.

I am pretty sure 94.5 is WLQT. I heard it last night at the top of the hour.

Did they announce the city-of-license (Englewood) along with the WLQT calls? "WLQT Dayton" (or "WLQT 94.5", or just "WLQT") is not a legal ID. But they can say it on the air all they want, as long as they say "WDKF Englewood" at least once an hour.

(in theory, at the top of the hour -- but a LOT of stations run the legal ID at a different time, and I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble with the FCC for it.)

It is of course possible the FCC hasn't updated their database. But that's pretty unusual.

techie2: thanks for the info, re: WQRP/WDPS. I'd bought a new handheld ham rig with an FM chip, which was overloading pretty badly. Worried about it until I saw that antenna two blocks away...

What was up with the seeping outdoor toilet problem?
"Ham Fest" is a blast!

From what I'm told it wasn't the porta-potties, it was a sewer line break under the Hara parking lot. The restrooms in the building were closed for much of Saturday. (but were open Sunday, along with some fresh asphalt in the flea market...)

The WBTT calls are now in Fort Myers, Florida; incidentally, one of their sister stations is WZJZ, one letter off of WZJX.

Limp 73,
yes WDOL, Oldies 94.5. I worked there in 95/96. My favorite radio gig besides Kiss Country. Signal at 94.5 was crap, but a lot of fun!!

Actually in 1996 while IN the studio of 94.5, 20 floors up in the 5/3 building, I was only hearing Mix 94.5 out of Lexington, KY. Had to throw her in studio mode and call the engineer, Tim who said it was an anomaly. But we had a lot of signal issues at 94.5 esp. south and east of Dayton proper.
Even today, here in Springfield, if it is cloudy forget 94.5, it ain't happening. Weak otherwise, but tolerable.
At first at Oldies, we had six dayparts with Lee Riley and Barb Compton in the am drive, then Bob Dittoe, Mark Roberts, Joe Demma pm drive, Lisa Marie evenings and Brian Wilson overnights. I , (Zack Burns) did overnights after Brian's departure. A great group of talent indeed fun times!!
