Just curious, has anyone listened to WDKN since they came back on the air last month?

I have seen some (on Yahoo) where it actually IS against the policy to change the subject headings when replying.D Dean said:Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Re: WDKN Sorry I did not realize you were kingoftheboard. this is the only website i've ever seen where changing headings was against the terms of the site.
Right. If one of my topics is the most recently responded to, I can look at the main page of this board and see that in a moment's notice. Not so if the subject line has been changed. Some of these threads wander off-topic enough even without changing the subject line.Jan Jeffries said:You're right. I wish they wouldn't do that...

Yep...thats why they went OFF THE AIR...in the 1st place...
small town radio is just hard to stay in biz...w/o operating in the RED!

You're very correct! What is going to be the savior for AM Radio is local content. This can be done, inexpensively. Invite your guest to your radio station for interviews. Don't go doing trades at restaurants, and doing local shows at restaurants. Sometimes, this adds noise, commotion, distraction, and ruins the program if the restaurant is busy. It does work in some places, but I don't encourage it.
Since I don't live in Dickson and very rarely venture into Dickson for anything, WDKN very rarely, if ever crosses my mind, let alone listen to it. And I'm sure a lot of people who post on this message board feel the same way.firepoint525 said:Just curious, has anyone listened to WDKN since they came back on the air last month?
I didn't criticize you in a bad way, but a very positive, good way, I only used it as a good example. You’re taking things the wrong way. Buddy, radio is changing and in 10 years, I'm afraid AM is not going to be around if we AM's (especially the ones with FMs) don't do some local. My local is on Sundays. It is the one day of the week that there is no satellite on the station. I didn't say you had to be local everyday of the week.olebud said:You're very correct! Maybe you should try it instead of criticizing us at WHIN. It works for us. However we have done it at the station when there were tech problems. And it helps that someone is always there
Sgt Preston said:Buddy Sadler does a GREAT job on WHIN...(but, he'd do a GREAT job anywhere he lands)...i worked with an AM station in Pikeville, TN many years ago...ALL "LIVE" @ that time...now its a corner in a NIK-NAK shop hooked up to a media player.
Many stations (AM & FM) have given up & gone to the satellite services or syndicated programming to make ends meet...
Youre right...any monkey can spin records (or CDs) but, It IS all about offering something "UNIQUE".
Neal Peterson is doing an EXCELLENT job in Springfield,TN (WSGI-AM 1100 & WDBL-AM 1590) keeping it "LOCAL" & interesting.
Maybe the owners of WDKN should take notes.
Evidently, there ARE people here who are interested in WDKN and other stations like it. This topic has now gone into two pages. So you are wrong. I wouldn't expect you to listen to them if you don't live in Dickson and hardly ever go there.jwk1979 said:Since I don't live in Dickson and very rarely venture into Dickson for anything, WDKN very rarely, if ever crosses my mind, let alone listen to it. True, this subject has gone to TWO pages, but how many of these posts have anything to do with WDKN. It seems that a fairly good portion of the posts have to do with small AM stations in other towns and not so much about WDKN (namely a couple of station in Gallatin).firepoint525 said:Evidently, there ARE people here who are interested in WDKN and other stations like it.
