WDNA's New Antenna

Why are they making such a big deal about it?
I see no mention about any increase in coverage at FCC.gov or R-L.
Has their old antenna corroded into dust and given them a negative ERP or something?
La Nueva does not appear to be going anywhere, and neither does WQCS.

BTW...for those of you jazz fans with dual seasonal homes, WBGO moves to the Conde Nast building on Friday and should cover the New York metro as well as any other class B1. The Wall Street Journal files this report.

As long as it isn't with IBOC, I don't care.....my 88.7 & 89.1 reception has improved!

Something is very strange, CD. You keep getting them digitally while I get analogue only.
Either one of our radios is weird or they are switching their digi-stuff on just for you.

The antenna we had been using since 1992 was poorly designed and did not yield the most effective pattern. After a protracted legal case against the manufacturer, which will remain unmentioned, we were absolved from paying the remaining amount due them.

Our new antenna, a Shively, is a real humdinger.

The Harris HDE-100 is a royal piece of trash that will take a dive with the slightest network or even room temperature hiccup. Thursday, our transmitter room cooling system needed servicing, and naturally the Exporter took time off. I've configured the Z16 to automagically switch to aux inputs in such a case to keep analog going.

For the record, all I want for Christmas 2012 is IBOC's complete death.

Halelujah, it is New Years and the first time we have hard WDNA-HD in a loooooong time.
Congrats, now just synch up the timing.

Analog is about half a second ahead of HD, yes? More trouble, courtesy the HDE-100. I should have it synchronized by the end of the week, as soon as I can head out to the xmitter.

Joecessara,
Just recently moved to Miami Beach and am suffering from the effects of having the nation's third largest skyline a few miles southwest of me plus more big buildings on the beach itself. WDNA, WKCP, WVUM, and probably 98.3 all have extreme multipath distortion throughout south beach, where I usually drive, but the stations clear up as soon as I leave the area. It is my oppinion that Miami Beach would be the perfect place to locate synchronous amplifiers. By carefully engineering the powers, directions, and beam tilts, the areas of interferrence between the synch amps ant the main stations could be located entirely over uninhabited Biscayne Bay.

On the other hand, WQCS is no longer an issue!
