WDOM format change 1972

Stumbled across this if you feel like reading the article along with more RI nostalgia. It's a link to a PDF of The Cowl, a PC campus newspaper, from 11/72. Along with some good stuff from almost 40 years ago, there's an article about WDOM changing formats from underground rock to pop music and oldies. There's also an ad for The Library in Smithfield where WGNG's Ray Brown would be appearing.

I wonder what was considered acid or underground rock in 1972 given that acts like Hendrix and Dylan had already gotten top 40 radio airplay by then.
