WDRB (formerly known as Fox 41) launched two internet/app radio stations this week: WDRB Classic Hits and WDRB Hot Country. Both have live DJs during the day and both are former on-air talent from the Toledo area. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. They have professional studios and high quality imaging. The Classic Hits station played some deep tracks this morning. I would put money that one of these make it to the terrestrial airwaves, possibly on 93.9. They have news, weather, and sports to support a full broadcast.

They have hired away 7 Courier Journal writers. They are the modern Bingham empire.

I like what I hear on the Classic Hits station so far.Now that W&B are going to rebroadcast 620 WTUV on their translator at 100.1 instead of 93.9,maybe WDRB can lease or buy 93.9 and put Classic Hits on there. There are enough Country stations in the market and the only direct competition for Classic Hits would be WAKY 103.5.

So did they pull the plug on these? I've tried opening the app a few times in the past few days and nothing played on it (same seems to be the case for the website), and they seem to have scrubbed the links to it on their website. I don't think I've seen it advertised on air lately.

The classic hits one was pretty decent (never listened to country since I don't like country anyway), but I can't imagine they ever got an audience... online radio strikes me as something that older people in Louisville aren't ready to handle.
