WDRC-FM; I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. . . .

Listening to 102.9 the past week or more, it has become apparent that more audio tweaking has taken place. Examples that come to mind are:
  • I Am, I Said / Neil Diamond (I've heard the song a million times and instruments in the song I never heard before.)
Drift Away / Dobie Gray (The bass was so overwhelming, I had to bring it to center position. I haven't touched EQ controls 2 years 'til today.)

I don't think I've ever heard a station's music sound so good. The mic could be tweaked just a bit more.

I noticed some minor things but I didn't know if it was them improving things or just the fact I changed receivers. I'll have to give it a more "in-depth" listen. DRC-FM has been a welcomed listen ever since the audio have been tuned.

I took a listen on the way into work and the one thing I did notice is that Jerry's microphone sounded cleaner than it had - I had noted a little distortion on the bottom end.

I flip through WDRC once in awhile. I'm not a radio professional so I can't tell any difference in the audio between how it was a year ago, a month ago, or a week ago. This summer I have noticed, though, that they have gone back to playing more 80's stuff. In the past few weeks I've heard "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", "Kokomo", and "Centerfield."

Whatever changes may come in the ratings or the classic hits format, it is clear that DRC-FM is doing what it needs to do. The audio, music rotation, jingles, website and use of its heritage are all coming together this year in a way it hasn't in years. Way to go!

Nothing has been done to the audio processing for several months now.

HOWEVER....we DID make a minor change today. Let's see if anyone picks up on what it is.

Sounds like a little reverb-like effect on the talent's microphone channel (I haven't heard a local news break so I don't know if the news mic is identical).

Actually, it's a little reverb on the entire chain. Just to give the station a little different flavor. Give a listen over the next week or so and let me know what you think.

So far it sounds good, Tom. I was listening in the car so it was hard to hear it on programming other than on the mic when the talent wasn't performing a talkover. I'll have to give it a more critical listen at home to get a better idea.

I listen while driving around on Long Island; amazingly hip selection of tunes; heard the 70s,post Ross Supremes "Up The Ladder To The Roof" driving home from a club gig,and had to smile; great.great stuff...

It sounds like no other station on the dial! (Of course, we were saying the same thing a year ago, but we're smiling this time.) Everything from those classic Beatles songs to "Smoke From a Distant Fire" sounds amazing. Don't change a thing.
