Did you notice if they were scrolling info or sending it line by line? I had heard something that it was either illegal or "... highly recommended" that stations not scroll data due to being a possible distraction for a motorists.
From what I heard, most auto radios won't scroll, but many have developed a method of sending the data repeatedly and dropping the front leading character with each repeated send, performing a pseudo scroll effect. I remember it being discussed extensively in Radio World a few years ago.
