Was Wondering When WDRU FM 95.3, Drew, MS. Went On The Air.
IIRC WDRU Owner/Operator Was The Love Family From Drew.

Since you are a big fan of Paul Galtelli, I suggest you contact him at Telesouth in Jackson and get the early details direct. I am surprised these questions did not arise in your period of residency
therewith....JBI

Just Wasn't Sure If He Knew The Fine Print On WDRU.

However I Will Go Ahead, Ask - We Communicate Frequently.

Paul Is At SuperTalk Mississippi- (network)
----> Very Big Fan !!!!!
Doing Mornings-Has Been For A Long While

The Galtelli's Both Are Wonderful People, Ran A Tight Ship, Treat Employees Great.

Paul & Patsy Are Broadcast Masterminds.

COULD YOU PLEASE ELABORATE??????

Ken my best guess based on searching the Broadcasting Yearbooks is 1971.

WDRU(FM) 1971: 95.3 mhz; 3 kw. Ant
295 f t. Stereo. 161 Shaw Ave. (38737).
745-2623. Tr i angle Bcstg Co.
Rep: Wa l ton.
Vince Ma r l in, gen mgr; Joe Williams, prog
mgr.

I found that in the 1972 yearbook.
That phone number stayed with the station all the way to 1994.

In 1980 Paul was managing WROX

Looks like Paul took over KZB in 1981

W K Z B ( F M ) —J u n e 1, 1 9 7 1: 95.3 mhz; 3 kw. Ant 2 95
ft. Stereo. Box 2 67 ( 3 8 7 3 7 ). ( 6 0 1) 7 4 5 - 2 6 2 3. Ga l t e l li
B c s tg Co. ( 1 0 - 1 0 - 8 1 ). Net: ABC/D. Rep: Bunchez. Format: C & W. • Paul Gal tel l i, pres, gen, c o ml & p r om
mg r; prog, mus & news d i r; J i m my Powell, chief engr.
• Rates: $ 6 . 5 0; 5.75; 5.75; 5.25.

Thanks Alot Michael For The Info, I Appreciate It.

Thanks Also For Tip On Broadcasting Yearbooks- Hadn't Even Considered That.

745-2623 Was The Only Public Number At WKZB.
745-2906-A "Circle Dial", Private Number That We Had.

When Line (2) Lit Up Ya Knew, Generally Who Was Calling.

I Think That Paul, Patsy, Charlie Nance, Station Engineer & Myself Had The Number......Also Some Guys, Being Our Large Accounts Had The 2906.

Remember How Expensive Long Distance Rates Were Back Then ?
It Was Clear W/ Everybody No Calls Out On 2906 & Answer Immediately.

Take Care Michael

Why do you capitalize the first letter of every word you type?
For Me It's Easier To Read, Relate & Relay. (RRR-lol)
Scanning The Lower Line For Punctuation.. And The Caps --- You'll Never "Fumble" A Word/Sentence Again!
