WDRV

Was passing though Chicago a few years back and came across The Drive... Seems as if the format has changed since I first heard it - I now catch it on the net.

How is the station doing? It was seriously one of the best stations I'd heard at the time, but then I was in radio during the '70s, and much of the music was from my era in radio. Seems much more mainstream now...

They have tweaked the format since they originally signed on (for the better).

Originally they sounded like 'Lite Classic Rock', similar to the first incarnation of WCKG in 1985-1995. But now they have added some artists from the 80's and 90's, plus harder groups from the 70's, which were ignored originally on The Drive. The station sounds better IMO, except they still need to get rid of the DJ's that talk like Mr. Rogers.

The Drive is an excellent station. It's different from other Classic Rock station who plays more of the same all the time. The Drive is different and it reminds me of 102.7 WNEW New York City in there old days. The same presentation and feel from that station I hear on The Drive.

WNEW-FM was a great station when it was run by the late Scott Muni.
