WDSD's move to 94.7 may have been good for CC

Speaking of the fall 12+ numbers for Wilmington, I see of the country stations that both WXTU and WXCY dropped, which seems to be normal for them in the fall. The interesting thing is WDSD went up. Granted their change back to 94.7 a stronger signal in New Castle County from the weaker 92.9 has only been in effect a few months, but the rise in their numbers may be a peek at the future. When I am in the mood for country I do tune into 94.7 as it comes in great at work, where as 103.7 WXCY didn't come in strong and 92.5 WXTU doesn't come in at all. In the car all come in well, but DSD's signal still is stronger in the car.

Shifting the country format to the weaker signal ranks as one of the dumbest moves in Delaware radio in recent memory. WDSD will again be a major player.

Given that I haven't listened to country radio in the last year and a half, I can't comment on how the stations sound, but I have certainly noticed the battle of the billboards in New Castle County. I even got a kick out of seeing the brand new WDSD billboard right above the WXCY board on Churchman's Road a couple of months ago. Put that down as reason #1 why you should be very cautious about buying a Clear Channel billboard if you're a competitor.
