WDSJ is next I bet

I bet WDSJ 106.5 out of Dayton, OH is next to change and I hope it does. It's one of the most horrible smooth jazz stations I have ever heard! Boring on air talent and poor song selection makes it also low in the ratings.

I think WDSJ is all BA last I remember. I hear it often. It does sound horrible though. Lots of dead spots and some hours the wrong voicetracks are put in. The syndicated hosts often introduce songs that have already played (not BA fault). Happened during the noon hour a couple of weeks ago when I listened. I'm sure they're overwhelmed and understaffed but it's very evident they have never had time for this station even when they had jocks. It's on the CC list to be sold so they can go private so that's probably why it sounds even more like they don't care. Old podcasts and dated concert photos and comments on the website too. Interviews done by jocks who were fired a long time ago can still be accessed. Probably the worst of all the SJ stations as far as on-air sound even with no local jocks. Sell it already!

WDSJ / "Sometimes" by B-Tribe

Was driving thru Dayton Saturday night & listened to WDSJ for about 90 minutes (pretty good signal Dayton & North; can't be heard in Cinci). While the presentation was nothing special, I did hear a cool song I've never heard on Smooth Jazz radio before - it's called "Sometimes" by B-Tribe (instrumental version). Anyone else know or like this song? I can only find the crappy vocal version. If you have the instrumental version, could you please email it to [email protected]? THANKS!!

MM:

I've heard the song several times on my local BA affiliate..they play the instrumental version, but bury it late at night...I love the song...unfortunately, it is 1 of only a handful of relatively unfamiliar/unique songs that BA has the courage to play.

I can't find the instrumental version either..only the vocal, which is not nearly as good...

MM come over to the darkside. I play many tracks like B Tribe. Jazz purist dispise what I am doing. Oh well, it's the end result that counts. Send me a note and I will give you the link to the station.

Too bad WDSJ doesn't sound that hot...but hey they're Clear Channel. It may as well be sold back to the locals in Greenville. (I like the idea for it being part of the folks who own WZZY in Winchester,IN and some of the other Richmond-area stations from a recent post on the Cincy boards a while back.)

AS for smooth jazz...I find it relaxing. My wife gets after me for listening to oldies too much so I did two things...listen to a Chuck Mangione-inspired channel on www.pandora.com and recently met up with Gene Kirby who operates WRPO-LP up at Indian Lake. He recently switched from Big Band/Adult Standards to a more traditional smooth jazz format featuring artists from the 60s and 70s along with his Saturday morning talk/interview program with Robbie Robinson which is as laid back and down home as stopping by for some coffee and blueberry muffins with some freinds at Tim Horton's or the Javawocky Cafe in downtown Piqua. He has an awesome and unique little station there up at Russells Point and aside from Stanley Coning in Eaton, he is one of the most easy going individuals in radio. Like Ultimate Oldies,it's only a 100 watt job but if you don't mind that along with its monaural carrier...give Gene's little station a listen next time you're in northwesten Logan County . He also aires oldies on the graveyard shift on his station and still produces his Big Band show which airs on Saturday monings on Ultimate Oldies.
