WDST off 106.3....True Oldies now on 95.7 Poughkeepsie

Translator 106.3 Poughkepsie dropped WDST for 88.1 WGMY (boo)
But on an up note, The sound of life on 95.7 has been replace by Scott Shannon's true oldies channel coming from the city off 95.5 FM HD-2. Would be kinda kool to see if 95.7 shows up in the Poughkeepsie ratings now.

I just got back in town and was pleased to see true oldies channel 95.5 HD2 has added another translator , this one in Poughkeepsie. 93.7 didn’t quite make it to Hyde Park. Thought not perfect at least they play music not heard much on the radio anymore. Although their reach as a translator is relatively small the combination of frequencies should make a showing in the ratings . WQXR on translator 103.7 usually shows up in the Poughkeepsie ratings . Their signal actually reaches the Millbrook / Mabitsville area before it starts getting choppy and is receivable almost to Deliverne hill west of Amenia . However I wonder how they are getting the program. WPLJ -HD2 certainly does not reach Poughkeepsie . I noticed the same problem posters complained about when 93.7 & 94.1 came on the air ; the signal is scratchy . In fact in Poughkeepsie , although 95.7 was stronger ( louder) 93.7 was clearer . Hopefully they will fix this and the mid Hudson Valley can once again enjoy some oldies music.

agree, hope it gets better soon, the music is good. tru oldies was on 93.7 too but now i hear a religious station. i thought it was skip but it isnt because i heard it right in downtown newburgh. there is a lot of religoius stations.

Actually it is more translator merry go round True oldies channel 95.5 WPLJ-HD2 that was on 93.7 has moved to 94.9. So True oldies is now on 94.1 , 94.9 and 95.7 . What you are hearing on 93.7 also on 106.3 is WNYX 88.1 Montgomery . I just noticed the change today.
I agree there are to many religious stations many available on several Frequencies

Good move to have an oldies station on 95.7 after the defunct "Cool 92.9" back in January 2007 when it flipped to a sort of a lighter classic rock format that WBPM is doing where they still going to compete with WPDH. I can hear it through Kingston, but not all that great, I hope they should go up to 5 kw soon to bring "True Oldies" listeners to Poughkeepsie, Kingston and a few other towns that doesn't have an oldies station after "Cool 92.9" ended back in 2007.

This sucks! Now I can't listen to oldies anymore, but you have only two options, listen to WGNY-AM for the best oldies, WZCR's "Cruisin' 93.5" for more of the same, because the station doesn't come in good in Kingston and Poughkeepsie where it got splattered by WBWZ's "Star 93.3" in New Paltz and WKNY in Kingston where they playing oldies every Saturday afternoon with Warren Lawrence. Or maybe get a satellite radio.

dissney, 94.1, 94.9 and 95.7. you should be able to pick it up in newburgh on 94.1

Its on 108.3 fm in Kingston

There's no such frequency as 108.3, my radio ends at 108.0, but I wish Kingston needs another translator to get WPLJ's HD2 "True Oldies Channel" soon. 95.7 did not come well in Kingston, Poughkeepsie does, but let's hope that Kingston needs another translator, maybe if it's a good idea to dump "The Sounds of Life" to make way for oldies. That might be better than having a religious format on any station.

And how do you propose getting an HD-2 signal from NY to Kingston? ??? ???

True Oldies on 95.7 came in great yesterday (7/15/09) from the Rhinecliff Bridge, out to the Taconic and Almost to Noxon Road.

The format wears on you after long term listening. But it is always better than the holy roller nonsense.
