WDTL and WRKG Off-Air

WDTL (92.9) and WRKG (95.3) are both off-air. They were evicted from the transmitter site about three weeks ago. That means all the stations Russell bought from me in 2003 are now dead. KZYQ and KRKD have been dead for almost three years, WZYQ has been dead for two years, WDSK has been silent for several months, and now WDTL and WRKG are gone.

A sad, but predictable demise...Even more so that little effort has been made on the part of the 'powers that be' to evict Russell from radio alltogther.

now someone who cares should buy them for the low low......

HAH! If you think Russell will part with them like that, I've got swamp land in New Mexico to sell you. From what I remembered hearing, he wanted $200K for a 5kw AM daytimer in Texas that had been dark for several months. This did NOT include the studio and tower site...those are leased. It did include a mess of junky gear, though. (Well, it can't be that junky...it's been resurrected and is on the air now.)

>Yawn!< Just as my signature predicts and I'm not at all surprised. I just knew that the MRS coup would mess up. One way or another, Russell would might as well give it up and just leave Mississippi alone and lick his wounds (needless to say he has a LOT of them!).

And WDSK is now off-air too. That was the last of the Russell empire.

Gee, I wonder if the Commission has been notified that all these stations are off-air? That's the responsibility of the licensee.

So does that mean that the sports format Andy Hodges try to resurrect on there was also short-lived?

Hey LF,

I drove through Cleveland last week. The radio dial is still very quite there. I was also wondering if the FCC had been notified! I have to go through there regularly now. We just purchased a new station in Helena (KVRN, MARVELL) and since I was taking care of Greenville, they sent me up the river a bit and gave me the Helena station as well. The Arkansas regional manager really has his plate full with 18 stations. It makes sense since Helena makes 8 stations for me.

First of all congrats on your latest acquisition and a quick question: What is 'VRN's format there and is there an AM/FM combo that went with that? I've been under a rock an not noticed anything.

We have changed the call letters of KVRN to KLMK. The format is Contemporary Christian, syndicating the
K-LOVE format. Also, to answer your question, we do not have an AM station with it.
