If he's really gone, my guess would be that someone at corporate looked at the books and said "We're paying him how much?" Not sure what he charges now but having dealt with him in the past (for radio)he is very very expensive. Of course he is also very very good and very professional to work with. However the voiceover market is extremely competitive and people are cutting some incredible deals for their services now, so stations looking to save money can usually find someone less expensive when a v/o contract is up for renewal.
