WDTW 1310/Detroit to go dark after Dec 31

Hmmmm I thought I read right here on RD that 1310 would be donated to a non-profit org. Or, was it 1130, and the numbers transposed?

This would make a second heritage 1310 going away, WDOD Chattanooga being t'other.

When I was first online, one of the stations I enjoyed hearing was 1310, which was WYUR at that time, with a "lost oldies" show late nights. I even talked to the host on the phone, long distance. i remember he asked me what WYUR sounded like over the Web.

So long 1310.

I think that the oldies show on WYUR in the late 90s was hosted by a former Keener DJ. ISTR him mentioning how high a song peaked on the Keener survey. I heard a song or two that may have been Motor-City-Only hits.

Back in the 50's it was WKMH and one of the very earliest rock and roll stations. If you had the "cruisin" series, this was the station they used for 1956.
