WDTW Host Banned From Balloonfest

DToTheJ said:
Working at 1310 WDTW certainly has been no dream cruise. Now, we have a host that claims he was granted permission to broadcast live from a local balloon event, but was ultimately denied media access.

What? He's not actually RIDING in the balloon. An anecdote with a web stream doesn't mean anything more than playing "Up, Up And Away" The Fifth Dimension.

What WDTW (AM) seems to going through is a LOT of unwarranted (and legally questionable) discrimination. If specific ground rules were on paper, signed and delivered, then WDTW has every right to cover the event as agreed to.

And if Clear Channel's other stations are allowed to broadcast the events, but suddenly, WDTW isn't. Then it's time for Clear Channel to step up to the plate and ask some direct questions about WHY. Because I don't understand what's going on here. If everyone goes through the same protocols to get in and at the last minute, it's "everyone but YOU" for 1310, something here STINKS.

Not unlike if President Obama said "We'll allow all the networks to carry my State of the Union speech." and just before airtime "Everyone else but Fox....." Can you IMAGINE the UPROAR if THAT happened?

This is no different whatsoever.......

Most likely cause was that he wasn't properly credentialed.

I seriously doubt that anything else came into play.

WHMI owns Livingston County. They probably have and exclusivity deal.
Plus, you cannot pick up 1310 in Howell.
Howell is not the most conservative part of the county, btw.
Shoot, a country station would do really well, there.
