WDUV TX/Tower site?

Been cruising around the area to see what has changed since I was here last ;-) and someone was pointing to a tower telling me it was WDUV "The Dove".

Can anyone verify where this tower/TX is now?

Have they moved their TX site recently?

Seems to have a good signal everywhere now. (Maybe it's me!) ;-)

Thanks!

If they were pointing at a tower in Holiday just West of US-19, then yes, that is where the antenna for 105.5 WDUV is. It's also home to 97.1 WSUN and 97.9 WXTB.

Especially in elevators. :)

If you're tower hunting in that area, you may wish to check out WTBN's six-tower array (570 kHz) near the intersection of Suncoast Parkway (SR 589) and SR 54.

Thanks. A bit of a tower geek when driving. ;-)

Does anyone have a better signal in the area than WDUV? Seem it comes in great wherever I travel.

WDUV has about the 10th best FM signal for covering the market. It is located too far to the north to cover as well as stations like WPOI, WFLZ, WWRM, WMTX that are more central and cover the MSA better.

WDUV does not put a 65 dbu over most of the SE part of Hillsborough, the county that has nearly 50% of the whole MSA's population.

WXTB, also up where WDUV is, has slightly better coverage. Abd there are ones like WRBQ, WQYK and WXGL that are not as good as the first set, but put signals over more population in the MSA. That group does not cover Hernando County well, but that county is less than 10% of the total metro.

Dove is still on the Holiday tower, nothing has changed. They share the Master antenna at the top with WXTB but WDUV only runs 33kw as they are a C1. WSUN is side mounted on the tower at about 700 feet.

WDUV is still located on the Holiday tower. They share the same Master FM antenna at the top with WXTB, but WDUV runs less power, 33kw, as they are a C1. One thing they did do a couple of years ago was install a new GatesAir 20kw water cooled transmitter. This allowed them to do common amplification FM and HD, so the HD signal is now on the Master FM antenna as well. It used to be on a lower antenna. WSUN is side mounted at about 700 feet on that tower.
