Haven't heard Wilson Pickett since they stopped being easy and relaxing

Kind of like what happened with WPOI, the final year Cox revamped the stations as Best of 80's and 90's. Thus removing artists such as Kajagoogoo, Wham!, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Palmer (Power Station Included) and even songs by heavily rotated artists such as INXS and Duran Duran. Followed by amping up the 90's being played.

When Cox usually changes station imaging the playlist is also modified. Being Wilson Pickett is largely a 60's artist maybe Cox is trying to make The Dove more hip. The Point's final year was a perfect example of modernizing the playlist

Which personally sucks considering dull liners and presentation aside WDUV is one of the best stations in The Bay, Well besides Q105 and WMNF.

Perhaps they're trying to reach a demo that advertisers want, as something's going wrong if they're always #1 6+, yet not even a top 10 in billing.

I also noticed that they changed the WDUV logo for the first time since... well probably for the first time ever.

Because they're usually lucky to crack the top 10 25-54.

Cox just added Delilah to Easy 93.1 in Miami. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they move her from Magic 94.9 to WDUV.

As well as the same style of calm, musicless liners that they've used ever since the "Music, just for the two of us" days in the early-1980s.

Despite still bragging that they're rated #1 by Arbitron in Tampa Bay, Cox still had the sense that the presentation style was old hat.

That will ruin it for me. But I think Easy 93.1 has two------count em --------two jocks which is one more than WDUV. Maybe put Tesh in PM drive while you're at it

THEY HAVE NOW broke the record for the longest time a station has been #1 in the rankings! I mean WDUV. Have no idea why, is there more old people than young people in Tampa Bay? Also, I have no idea why they are #1, even if they have a bad signal that can reach Citrus County, Bradenton, but not Sarasota. Maybe it's to prevent interference with 105.5 The Beat in SWFL.

WDUV's dominance has to deal with a lot of issues including the following.

1) Signal, unlike the Riverview FM's WDUV packs a powerful signal into the North of the Bay Area. Which include the fast growing communities of Pasco and Hernando counties. Picking up the Riverview Stations from lets say Spring Hill is possible on an indoor radio, however it is such a chore. Back when I lived there if I wanted to listen to 101.5 I would have to constantly fiddle with the antenna. Wherelse WDUV's signal was strong enough to not have to fiddle with it. Fiddling with the radio is a lot of times too much effort for the casual listener. Not the mention the more elderly population is North of the Bay. Also people who may not overly care for "The Dove" may listen, like if its the least worst option that has an exceptional signal where their at.
2) Mass-appeal music, much of the music is very Middle of the Road and unoffensive. Even compared to the music on Mainstream AC's like sister station 94.9.
3) Limited DJ chatter and commercial interruption, some people just want music.
4) Imaging, if you ever listened to sister station "The Eagle" you would know. The Dove just has one person doing the prerecorded liners with no music or sound effects added. Where-else the imaging on "The Eagle" is louder and more annoying, especially with those "Eagle" screeches.

I like the station, just wish to playlist was wider with less predictability. Maybe another voice or two wouldn't hurt either. I would also summarize that "The Dove" puts a good signal over almost all of Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando. If you include all 4 counties "The Dove" puts out more square miles of "City-Grade coverage" than any of the Riverview stations do. Riverview is in the southeastern end of the area. Pulling more signal out towards Orlando, Lakeland and Sarasota. Which BTW does not count towards ratings in the Tampa market.

105.5 BTW can't move farther south, its the protect the 105.5 in SWFL.

107.3 however IS the 2nd top rated station in Tampa, despite it being in Oldsmar. Maybe it's to protect adjacent WCKT in SWFL, like WBTT and WDUV's scenario. This was why WYKS in Gainesville had to get out of 105.5 to protect WDUV and move to 105.3. Hovever, it had to broadcast from it's tower in it's studio to do this, and that's how Gainesville and Ocala didn't enjoy the same stations and how Lake City never gotten a chance to listen to Pop Music ever again. FLZ is the 3rd, hovever it is the #1 Tampa Station from "The Riverview Team" WDUV is in Holiday and 107.3 is in Oldsmar. Actually, 101.5 is #1 in Riverview right now, but I hate them, they just switched their pitch from 3% to DEFAULT! THIS IS INSANE! Sure, sister WAPE can do it because they are a legacy station, but that dosen't mean 101.5 can do that, even with new sister 97.3 doing from 3% to default only because they want to compete with Y100 in Miami. But FLZ is 3% high pitched and that is VERY UNBALANCED to Tampa Bay. NOW, Power 100.1 in Athens, GA is doing this with the 1st song in default pitch being Ed Sherran's Don't. I don't expect legacy sister BLI to do the same, because they will forever be that way, even though they do default pitch in their promos, but I don't care about that. The only thing I care about is what pitch they play their music. You should check out the 101.5 complaint in this forum in the Tampa section for even more. Now, changing topics. Oh yeah, this is WDUV we are talking about. Sorry. :( Yeah...
