WDVH AM & FM Together Again

101.7 HANK FM will now be simulcast on 980 in Gainesville. The morning WDVH AM Ward Scott talk show will be on both stations. I do enjoy HANK so will be good to hear it over the air.

MARC now has 720 and 1430 with a religious format and 106.9 with Christian music. I haven't checked lately but assume Buzz and Magic are still in place.

Odd that they give up a big part of morning drive 7-9am Monday through Fridays for the Ward Scott conservative talk show. Starting in February they will also be carrying NASCAR Sprint Cup races and all of the ancillary "must carry" short and long form features that comes with NASCAR. NASCAR I can understand, but conservative morning talk I wonder about. I would want my George, Willie, and Waylon on my way to work! Any thoughts?

That is an interesting programming combination. Who knows ... maybe it will work for them.

I'd imagine the answer is as simple as following the money. They probably have loyal paid sponsors for that program and are willing to break the format in exchange for the income. Conservative talk has done pretty well in this market, but there are probably a lot of sponsors that can't afford the WSKY rates. WDVH likely picks up on some of those sponsors.

I noticed a legal ad in the paper this morning indicating MARC Radio is buying the construction permit for a translator at 106.5 to carry WDVH AM. Is this the one that was talked about for WGGG?

my thought process was that SKY had the conservative talk market pretty much locked up, programming wise. Hadnt thought about what their rates are vs WDVH. I think you may have the answer there. One alternative is that they have Ward Scott and/or his advertising base under contract for some set period of time and are obligated to keep him on, at least until the contracts expire. Is Ward Scott an employee or brokering the time?
