It's an April Fools Day joke. "Buddy" is a reference to the disgraced (and now incarcerated) former mayor of Providence Vincent "Buddy" Cianci. WBRU will be back to normal Monday morning, if not sooner.

95.5 WBRU's alternative rock format came back shortly after 12 noon today (April 1st). Probably one of the best April Fools pranks on radio in a while, where WBRU adopted the name "Buddy FM" and played an interesting variety hits format. I think the best thing was the cheap liners between the songs, with slogans like "Buddy FM, fun for the whole family!" and "the only station named after a public official in prison!" I think what was neat also about this was the fact that they probably used all CDs during the 19-hour long prank. Good going WBRU!
