I just heard THE WORST commercial on KFMB... an awful re-tread of "Oh Christmas Tree" into a jingle for a house coating company. And it was a :60. And it was a DONUT jingle. And who should appear in the middle of it but a thoroughly bored-sounding Rick Roberts, extolling the virtues of the sponsor.
(Of course, this doesn't hold a candle to the amazingly coma-inducing medical research institute spots that call for everyone to sign up to be human guinea pigs for the latest anti-depression/anti-weak bladder/anti-hate the government pills. Those spots could stop a freight train.)
I know, these ad wonks gotta earn a living, but geez. With all the talented production guys out there, howcum local spots in San Diego still sound so overwhelmingly... um, local?
